Optimised Website = Free Traffic
6 Hot SEO Tips

So why should you optimise your website for the search engines? Well, you can either hope and pray that thousands of people will find your site by chance or you can dramatically increase your chances by ensuring that your site is search engine friendly.

I meet clients often who have a very unrealistic understanding of how online business works and by the time we get together they are confused, deflated and ready to give up their online business. Here’s how the scenario usually goes...They set up their site and assume that they will be found without doing any online marketing whatsoever and blindly believe that just because they have created a beautiful site and a great product that customers will be hitting their site non-stop to get their hands on their product.

They are then extremely disappointed to find that they aren’t selling a single thing online or their website is receiving a few hits and most of those hits are from obscure visitors who are not relevant to their business. Why? Because their site does not portray accurately who they are and what services they offer. Their site is not making it easy for the search engines to completely understand who and what they are and so they are not ranked at all. They have all the wrong words in all the wrong places and they are competing against a hundred other websites with the same product who HAVE optimised their site.

So if you want to make your way to the top of the engines and receive website traffic without spending a cent (it can take longer than 12 months AFTER you are optimised) then you better get started now!

Also if you are selling online, statistics tell us that on average 2 out of 100 visitors will buy from you. This can be drastically increased by having a sales oriented website copy or put simply your website is written and designed like a sales funnel. This will be reduced for a website that is hard to navigate and is informational rather than designed to sell.
So working with the average sales percentages, let’s just assume that if you want to make 10 sales per week then you are going to need a minimum of 500 hits just to make those sales. How do we make that happen?

1.      Market Research

Who is your market? How do they feel? How old are they? What do they do? Where are they? What do they really want and how can you give it to them?

Once you can answer these questions you then begin to create your site around the needs and wants of your market. You answer all of their questions and fulfill their desires and you do it with words and the careful set up of your website. Give them no choice but to feel like they must have your product today!

2.      Keyword Research

Extensive and thorough keyword research on 2-4 word keyword phrases (not single words) that the top ranking words for your industry is required. Keywords and grouped and filed and each page is optimised by placing these top phrases on your pages.

3.      Sales Copy

Throughout your carefully written sales copy include your key phrases in titles, headings, subtitles, meta descriptions and throughout your text.  Each page should be 400-500 words in length.
Careful placement is required; do not overuse the same phrase too many times on one page and do not use too many phrases on the one page.

4.      Tags (Titles & Meta)

Ensure your tags are keyword dense. Ensure you add keywords to image tags.

5.      Create a Site Map
