Let's look at some simple ways that will help you can improve your business time management skills...

Learning how to manage your time better by applying our time management tips can improve your bottom line, increase your profits and help you achieve a more balance work and home life!

Systems

You must have a daily, weekly and monthly system. Systems, Systems, Systems! You cannot survive without them and you have to learn to stick to them. It will save you oodles of time and you will be thankful when you have spare time up your sleeve to do as you wish.

Goals

Firstly set yourself out monthly goals according to your business and marketing plans and write them up on a big

white board or set into your computer reminder or calendar or both. Now break up those goals into weekly to dos and

write them into your diary or set into your online calendar. Good old fashioned diaries are great as you can tick off what you have done and visually see what you have achieved.

You will now be in the habit of reaching your goals without even realising it!

Phone and Email

Generally allow a minimal amount of time at the beginning and end of your work day to check your

emails and make calls. This will be a designated phone and email hour. If you possibly can, set up a message bank and

ignore your phone until the end of the shift. If you are in a situation where you cannot do this, then take a message and

add it to your list of messages to organise at the end of the day according to their priority. Ask people to email you their

inquiry and then you digitally have a record of communication, needs and priorities. Flag your emails according to

importance and learn to not put off replying, answer them immediately during this email response period that you have

allowed and then file or delete them straight away.

Communicate

Learn to set boundaries and communicate with others when you don’t wish to be distracted or even if

you require their help in some way. If you work in a home environment this might just be one of your biggest issues.

Sometimes it’s as simple as closing the door and putting up a ‘Don’t Disturb’ sign.
